Your transverter is setup so that it is only powered on when addressed correctly by your K3. So you would have to have the control cable plugged into the K3 and XV144 and have the proper band selected on the K3. Another thing is that I am not sure when they started using metal tabs for the XV144 label on the front, but it does not pass the LED light through the label, so you can’t tell if it is on. You can see the LED with the top cover removed to see if it is on. Most of the time, you hear relay clicks, but why they used metal tabs is beyond me.

As far as the setup with the K3, you should be able to set any transverter band to whatever frequency and address you like in the setup for a specific transverter band. Unfortunately, I am not too savvy with the K3 as I sold mine to buy a K4 and I test the older transverters with my K2. But I believe the setups are very similar.

Take a look at page 41 of the current K3S manual for how to setup transverter bands. I hope this helps. If not, let me know if you have further questions and I’ll get you proper answers.

I did not find anything wrong with the unit and actually it aligned and calibrated very nicely with a K2 and transverter interface I use here. I was able to easily produce 20W with a 1mw input from the K2 similar to what you were using with your K3. I did set the address to a couple of different ones including #3 and all worked correctly.

One thing I did not do was test with the provided cable as it is different than the one use to interface with the K2. Otherwise it performed flawlessly. One thing you may want to do when you get it back is follow the instructions on page 32 and 33 to calibrate the local oscillator with your K3 exciter. These are completely optional and not necessary for operation of the XV144. If you notice that things seem a bit off frequency, this calibration should resolve it.
